Overview

The museum has one of the largest collections of Pre-Raphaelite art including stained glass and a Morris & Company photographic album of stained glass designs.

Reason for highlighting

The extensive 19th century collection is complimented by this contemporary stained glass window. Demonstrating the continued vitality of an ancient art form, this dramatic work of 8 square metres is made from laminated, multi acid-etched & painted hand-blown antique glass.

Artist/maker notes

John Reyntiens (b. 1964) trained in fine and decorative arts and, like his father, Patrick Reyntiens, he works in a fine art tradition. He brings a combination of established techniques and new technologies to new projects as well as to restoration and conservation work. A highlight of his work is the window in Westminster Hall created to commemorate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
