Jane Gray has risen magnificently to the challenge of telling a story in long very narrow lancets. The windows are full of colour, movement and detail, while remaining clear and precise. An exceptional collection.

Artist/maker notes

Jane Gray (b.1931) trained at the Kingston School of Art and the Royal College of Art where she met Lawrence Lee. That led to her becoming his assistant and to working on the nave windows at Coventry Cathedral. She describes her work as ‘modern medieval’. Jane Gray was the first female stained glass artist to become a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers.
