Reason for highlighting

This striking window was designed and made by workers from a Manpower Services Commission programme, who restored the church during the 1980s. Designed by Paul Greener, a young man on the Youth Opportunities Programme, it dramatically illustrates Christ’s victory over Death at his resurrection. The eye at the apex of the window represents God the Father overseeing events. On the left the skeleton represents Death whilst on the right we see the angel who rolled away the stone.

Other comments

Before working on the east window Paul Greener and Michael Lane (chargehand for the MSC team) had made two small panels that are fitted into the upper lights of the chancel north window. They depicting the keys of St Peter and two fishes. For the east window project they were joined by Richard Seaman, before Michael Lane left for a job with Broadland Council, to leave Paul and Richard to fabricate and install the window.

Artist/maker notes

Paul Greener was 24 when he joined the Youth Opportunities Programme, having been unemployed for six months. After the success of the Frettenham project he went on to complete a History of Art degree at the University of East Anglia and work as an interpreter for the Norwich Museum Service.
