This former ancient church has been rescued from a derelict ruin and entirely re-glazed since 1995 by the Ellerton Priory Preservation Trust. Andrew Anderson’s charming little window is a memorial to Snowden Slights, the last wildfowler to work the nearby river Derwent. It is a tiny, perfect thing; beautiful in colour, original in conception and draughtsmanship – fresh, witty and playful.
Artist/maker notes
Andrew Anderson trained and practiced as an architect with a special interest in the repair and care churches. However, in 1956 he also started serious linocutting and engravings that demonstrate a deep artistic talent, even if he himself declares “I am an architect, not an artist.”

There are also other fine, modern windows in the building. Along the south wall are a series of small works by Alfred Fisher, Helen Whittaker and Ann Sotheran from the early 2000s. Helen Whittaker also created the east window installed in 2003.
Older glass is represent by two 19th century windows as well as two windows rescued by the Stained Glass Repository.
