Reason for highlighting

One of the most important collections of early Renaissance stained glass in Britain. Presented by Sir Arundell Neave and inserted in 1877, the glass had been collected by his grandfather Sir Thomas Neave.

The sixteenth-century work is thought to have originated at the Great Cloister of the Charterhouse, Leuven. The glass in the tracery of the east window is from the memorial chapel of Pope Adrian VI at the Pope’s College, Leuven, depicting both Charles V and Adrian VI.

The scenes in the east window include examples of both the style of the Charterhouse windows (probably 1520s) and the early seventeenth-century work at the church.
