Overview
There are a number of artists who have contributed to this website through their individual selections of 10 fine examples of British stained glass. While all naturally refrained from recommending their own work in the 10 selected, they have been asked to choose a window of their own that they feel reflects their personal work. This is Andrew Moor’s selection.

Each of the ten dichroic glass fins presents a segment of a photograph of the local countryside. At certain angles the images line up to reveal the full landscape of trees bordering a lake. For the adjoining cafe, we created a woodland scene that allows light to flicker through the image as if through a canopy of trees.
One of the wonderful things about this project is how much it was appreciated by the local people. Public art is, by definition, a public activity and should aspire to be appreciated by the public as well as the Art Community. This is greatly exemplified by the Angel of the North.
I enjoyed creating this piece and feeling it was a real contribution to local life.
Artist/maker notes
Andrew Moor has been involved with commissioning and project managing works of art in glass since 1983. He has written three books about architectural glass art, and has lectured at glass conferences in the UK, Italy, Germany, the United States and Canada.
His London based practice, Andrew Moor Associates, is a specialist art consultancy, focusing entirely on glass as the medium, and has developed a unique depth of understanding of what can be achieved with glass, how it can contribute to internal and to external space, and impinge on those using the building in a positive and uplifting way.
Major projects have included the two Poets’ Corner windows at Westminster Abbey and recently a number of glass features for the UK Supreme Court Building.
