Reason for highlighting

Flowers and plants have played an important role in Jane’s work and the four panels in the Marriage Room are a perfect example. The theme is an ‘Alphabet of flowers’, with an example for each letter of the alphabet.

Artist/maker notes

Jane Gray FMGP (b.1931) trained at the Kingston School of Art and the Royal College of Art where she met Lawrence Lee. That led to her becoming his assistant and to working on the nave windows at Coventry Cathedral. She describes her work as ‘modern medieval’. Jane Gray was the first female stained glass artist to become a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers.
