An excellent example of a church full of beautiful dalle de verre glass creating a deeply contemplative atmosphere.

Other comments

As well as in all the church windows, there is slab glass in the baptistery (an abstract design around a stone cross), in the narthex (two windows on the theme of sunrise and sunset) and two abstract panels in the sacristy and kitchen/servery.

Artist/maker notes

Dom Charles Norris OSB (1909-2004) was an influential artist who created works in stained glass and dalle de verre for Roman Catholic churches. He is thought to be the most prolific artist working in dalle de verre in the UK in the 20th century. His contributions to listed Modernist buildings are an integral part of their value and are mentioned in their listings. He spent the greater part of his life at Buckfast Abbey, where he established a stained glass studio.
