Designed by Kate Maestri and made by Proto Glass Studios, 2004Reason for highlighting
Kate Maestri’s design displays a certain confidence on the part of the artist, as so little seems to be happening. The idea is so simple, yet the result is surprisingly potent. It opens up a strong and positive dialogue with the architecture, without being subservient or merely ornamental.
Artist/maker notes
Kate Maestri is a London based artist, who specialises in the innovative use of contemporary architectural glass. She works to commission in collaboration with architects and engineers across a wide range of site-specific projects.
Her work is in the tradition of Josef Albers and those who have followed on afterwards in the exploration of interactive colours.
