Reason for highlighting

A wonderful addition to the Cathedral to mark the refurbishment of its campus, and all the more interesting as the columns are sited outside the building.

Other comments

While outside the cathedral look out for Susan Heron’s ‘Still Point’ (2004-7), a meditative spatial work, that was short listed for the Art+Christianity Award for Art in a Religious Context in 2007. More details can be seen on Art+Christianity’s Ecclesiart web pages, which raise awareness of significant works of modern and contemporary art since 1920 in UK churches and cathedrals.

Raphael Seitz (1957-2015) was a versatile glass artist and painter, who produced work in a variety of media. He was particularly concerned with the interplay of coloured glass, with light and the built environment.
