Glasgow Cathedral
Address
Glasgow Cathedral, Castle Street, Glasgow, G4 0QZOverview
The cathedral is blest with a fine collection of stained glass windows, that ranges from 12 small panels of 16th century Flemish roundels to contemporary work. However, it is the outstanding collection of post-war glass that makes Glasgow cathedral special. Representative of those treasures are the windows of Francis Spear, including the Great West window on the theme of The Creation (1958), and the Great East window of The Evangelists (1951), and Sadie McLellan’s north Quire window on Christ and the World’s Beauty (1955).
The cathedral continues to add to its collection, the latest addition being a contemporary interpretation of the Tree of Jess (2019) by Emma Butler-Cole Aiken.

The north nave Millennium window was technically an exceptionally difficult window to make, but one that successfully weaves together text and symbolism to make a powerful statement.
