Reason for highlighting

This three-light widow has images of local life during the First (left light) and Second (right light) World Wars. The central light shows Pershore today. There are images of local buildings and agricultural activities and produce. References to the conflict, include the development of radar at a local RAF Station. The window was unveiled in time for the 100-year anniversary of the ending of the First World War.

Artist/maker notes

John R Harris studied painting and ceramics at Cardiff College of Art, graduating in 1961. This led to a long career in art education, where he taught in his Welsh homeland, in Malawi and in England.

In spring 1986 he became a full time artist, since when he has regularly and successfully exhibited in several UK galleries, South Africa, Australia and the United Arab Emirates.

Essentially a landscape painter, John has an abiding interest in subtle light, reflection and the transitory aspects of weather conditions.
