Reason for highlighting

Although there are several attractive windows by James Egan in this handsome church, the most enchanting and unusual is this image of musician angels within the colours of the spectrum – doubtless a reference to the Covenant of the Rainbow – in a very narrow lancet.

Artist/maker notes

James Egan (1847-1918) was a stained glass designer and decorative artist born in Cheapside, London. He worked as a glass painter for Morris & Co. before leaving in the early 1880s to set up a short-lived partnership with Frederick Fletcher. He continued to work for Morris & Co. for some years.
