George Bryan Cooper-Abbs (1901-66) went to Camberwell School of Art, where he was taught by W Aikman.  He was employed twice by J Powell and Sons, from 1917-19 and again from 1928-32, working mainly for James Hogan, who was also a pupil of Aikman.  From there he moved to J Wippell and Co Ltd in Exeter, for whom he was chief designer until his death.  He also worked on his own account from an address in the city.
