Sarah Galloway was born in Devon and study at Falmouth College of Art. Early influences included the St Ives Painters and artists, Patrick Heron and John Piper. Interested in surface pattern and design Sarah studied at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, where she was awarded a First Class honours degree and a Distinction at Masters level.  It was during her MA studies that Sarah developed her love of glass.

The exploration of light is an important aspect of her abstract and conceptual work, whilst she continues to push back the boundaries of her practice, re-defining the possibilities of glass through the adoption of contemporary methodologies.
