Pearce (William) Ltd / Pearce & Cutler

The Birmingham based firm of Pearce and Cutler Ltd was formed in 1920 from the merger of William Pearce Ltd, founded in 1815, and E Cutler Ltd, founded in 1854. The firms produced a wide range of glass products, including, at the end of the nineteenth century, stained glass. At one time 40 stained glass artists were employed, but this work was largely discontinued after the Second World War, due to reduced demand and the difficulty of obtaining skilled craftsmen.
